Application Form

The Tom Acton Memorial Trust was founded in 1997 to raise money to support young musicians in need. The bursaries are aimed at providing assistance with such things as course fees, instrument purchase, tuition, travel expenses, etc.

Conditions for applications: You must have been born in, educated in, or be resident in Essex, and should be below the age of 25 on 31st May. You must have reached an advanced standard of musical education and will need to provide us with an independent reference from your instrumental teacher to support your application. Awards will be made of variable amounts according to need, with a maximum of £800, and will be presented at our concert given by the previous years Essex Young Musician in early September. Applications must be received by 31st May. Please send to Tom Acton Memorial Trust, Hamilton House, Cobblers Green, Felsted, Gt Dunmow, Essex CM6 3LX.

Please note an independent reference from your teacher must be sent separately to reach the Trust no later than 31st May, but this can be sent to applications@tomacton.org if time is tight.

Auditions will be held in July. Your audition will last approximately ten minutes. You should prepare two contrasting pieces and the adjudicating panel may choose to hear all or part of your programme. Winners of awards will be notified by the end of July.
